New Transportation Will Help Us Go Farther, Faster

We need your help to reach rural villages!

Rural villages are, by nature, far from the beaten path. Reaching them may involve trekking through jungle or up mountainsides. Not surprisingly, bus service is scarce.

Yet, to build a well, our partners need to make multiple trips to every village. They must meet with village leaders and look for a prospective site, and return later with the geologists and drillers to actually start the work. Once the well is finished, they make another trip to see the completed work, and hold a dedication ceremony at the well site.

And for all this travel, they've been using public transit! Sometimes, they wait half a day for the bus. Sometimes, they have to hire a private car because there isn't a bus! This tremendously limits their flexibility and productivity, adds more expense, and slows down the drilling process.

But YOU can help! For Christmas, we'd like to surprise four of our partners with their own transportation. Our hope is to purchase three Honda motorbikes and one motor scooter, as well as provide a small allowance to buy a helmet and cover registration and the first insurance payment for each one - and we can do this for a mere $1,680 each. Because they are small and nimble, motorbikes are the vehicle of choice in India. Each of these vehicles gets an astonishing 129+ miles per gallon fuel efficiency! By helping with this need, you will help our partners reach more villages and more people with vital, life-giving water.
